"(In)security" project: stimulating a dialogue between Art and Anthropology

Andrea Eichenberger

Abstract

This paper presents some considerations about the essence of the project "(in) Security", which is deliberately located in a border area between disciplines, in this case between Art and Anthropology. It is a work which has been developed by an anthropologist and an artist-anthropologist who seek to understand what different people from Florianopolis, a city in southern Brazil, think about the experiences related to security features in the public and private urban space. The work explores people's experiences, and also the feelings and practices that have become part of their lives because of the spreading presence of security features in their daily lives. While highlighting the use of photographic, videographic and ethnographic data that shape this work, this paper develops questions around dialogues between Art and Anthropology within the project.
